Ron Conway is the Founder and a Managing Partner of SV Angel. He has been an active angel investor since the mid-90s and has received wide recognition for his role in the tech ecosystem. He has been included on Vanity Fair’s 100 most influential people in the Information Age, awarded Best Angel at the TechCrunch Crunchies Awards, and has been named on Forbes Magazine's Midas list of top “deal-makers” since 2011. Prior to founding SV Angel, Ron was with National Semiconductor Corporation in marketing positions (1973-1979), Altos Computer Systems as a co-founder, President, and CEO (1979-1990), taking the company public on Nasdaq in 1982.
Philanthropically, Ron is a member of the Giving Pledge. He is a major donor to UCSF Medical Center, the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, and College Track. He is active in preventing gun violence including Sandy Hook Promise, Giffords.org, and March for Our Lives.
Ron is involved in efforts to solve systemic racial and economic inequality for founders of color, especially with Slauson and Co.
During Covid-19, he was involved in major efforts to secure PPE and fundraise for a drug therapy/vaccine at UCSF and organized the Covid-19 Tech Task Force for exposure notifications on mobile devices.
He is the founder of the AI Ad Hoc Workgroup, convening the top AI companies to consolidate policy inputs and advocate for AI Safety (Axios Article).
