Founder and Managing Partner
Ron Conway is the Founder and a Managing Partner of SV Angel. He has been an active angel investor since the mid-90s and has received wide recognition for his role in the tech ecosystem. He was included on Vanity Fair’s 100 most influential people in the Information Age in 2010, awarded Best Angel at the 2009 TechCrunch Crunchies Awards, and has been named on Forbes Magazine Midas list of top “deal-makers” since 2011. Prior to founding SV Angel, Ron was with National Semiconductor Corporation in marketing positions (1973-1979), Altos Computer Systems as a co-founder, President, and CEO (1979-1990), taking the company public on Nasdaq in 1982.
Ron is an advocate for technology companies and civic engagement. He is the founder of sf.citi and co-founder of FWD.US for immigration reform. Ron is involved in efforts to solve for systemic racial and economic inequality for founders of color, especially with Slauson and Co.
Philanthropically, Ron is a member of the Giving Pledge and Board Member of the Salesforce Foundation. He is a major donor to UCSF Medical Center and the UCSF Benioff Children’s Hospital, College Track, the THORN Foundation to eliminate human trafficking. He is active in preventing gun violence including Sandy Hook Promise, Giffords.org, and March for Our Lives.
He is the founder of the AI Ad Hoc Workgroup, convening the top 10 AI companies to consolidate policy inputs and advocate for AI Safety (Axios Article).
During Covid-19, he was involved in major efforts to secure PPE and fundraise for a drug therapy/vaccine at UCSF and organized the Covid-19 Tech Task Force for exposure notifications on mobile devices.
Topher Conway is a Managing Partner of SV Angel. Topher joined SV Angel in 2009, coming from a background in Business Development at EQAL. At SV Angel, he works particularly close with Flexport, Rippling, Hugging Face, Notion, Stripe, BetterUp, Coinbase, DoorDash, and Deel. Topher was also included in the Forbes Midas List in 2023, being recognized as one of the top 100 venture capitalists in the world. He was also named to the Forbes Midas Seed List in 2022 and 2023. Topher studied History at UCLA and is a member of the UCLA VC Fund, helping foster entrepreneurship at the University. Philanthropically, Topher is involved in a wide range of organizations, including Family House, College Track, THORN Foundation, Giffords.org, TGR Foundation, and Team RWB.
Managing Partner - Seed
Beth Turner is a Managing Partner at SVA. Prior to joining, Beth ran operations and invested with a family office focused on seed-stage opportunities, investing in companies such as Clover Health (NASDAQ: CLOV), Flatiron Health (acq. by Roche), LifeLock (formerly NYSE: LOCK), Blue Apron (NYSE: APRN), LuckySort (acq. by Twitter), and Workrise (fka Rigup). Prior, Beth was managing director of a consulting firm and worked with an international NGO with an operational focus in East Africa and the Middle East. Beth was an early employee at the ad-tech startup Adaptly (acq. by Accenture) and lived in Tel Aviv, Israel while working for Netafim (acq. by Mexichem).
She is a Siemens Westinghouse Scholar and Intel International Science and Engineering Fair Finalist, has spoken at various events including TEDx and The World Space Conference and is the youngest person to ever record and submit data from an asteroid occultation. She is also a musician (performing the national anthem for NBA/NFL, with the Houston Grand Opera, and on an album with Albany records). Beth graduated from MIT with a major in Civil and Environmental Engineering and minors in Physics and Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS). Some of her research focused on rare earth elements and their usage in new energy sources, as well as limitations in global supply and trade. Beth was also chosen for her climate advocacy and research to accompany polar explorer Robert Swan to Antarctica to raise awareness for the continent and globe's growing environmental threats. Philanthropically, Beth is co-founder of USA for UNHCR's (The UN Refugee Agency) Humanitarian Coalition and on the Board of Directors at USA for UNHCR.
Managing Partner - Growth
Ashvin Bachireddy is a Managing Partner at SVA, where he leads the firm's Growth fund. He has nearly twenty years of venture capital and technology experience. Ashvin was recognized by Forbes Magazine as one of the top 100 venture capitalists in the world by his inclusion in the 2021, 2022, and 2023 Midas List. In 2019, he was recognized as one of venture capital’s up-and-comers by his inclusion in the Forbes Midas Brink List. Prior to SVA, Ashvin was a co-founder of Geodesic Capital where he led investments in Airbnb (NASDAQ: ABNB), Confluent (NASDAQ: CFLT), Databricks, Duo Security (acq by CSCO), Figma, Forethought, HashiCorp (NASDAQ: HCP), Looker (acq by GOOGL), Marqeta (NASDAQ: MQ), Netskope, Pendo, Snapchat (NYSE: SNAP), Snyk, Tanium, Thoughtspot, Vercel, UiPath (NYSE: PATH) and Workato. Prior to Geodesic Capital, Ashvin was the Head of Growth Stage Investing at Andreessen Horowitz. He was actively involved with Andreessen Horowitz’s investments in Box (NYSE: BOX), Facebook (NASDAQ: FB), Fanatics, Github (acq by MSFT), Twitter (NYSE: TWTR) and Zulily. Prior to Andreessen Horowitz, Ashvin was a venture capital investor at Lightspeed Venture Partners, 3i Group and JMI Equity where he was involved with investments at all stages spanning broadly across technology. Earlier in his career Ashvin was in the investment banking division at Montgomery & Co. and Salomon Smith Barney. Ashvin received a B.S. in Management Science from the University of California at San Diego.
Steven Lee is a Partner at SVA. As a member of Twitter’s Global Market Insight & Analytics team, Steven was one of the first employees focused on monetization analytics. He partnered with Fortune Global 500 companies, like LG and Samsung, to analyze and optimize return on investment, and worked on measuring Twitter’s platform usage for key real-time events, including the Super Bowl and World Cup. During his four years with the team, Steven helped to grow the group to over 50 people, in offices spanning 11 countries. Following his time at Twitter, Steven was an investor at Bain Capital Ventures and Correlation Ventures. Over the course of his tenure he was responsible for sourcing and diligencing more than 25 companies that led to early-stage investments for the firms, including Clockwise, Magical, and Manticore Games, alongside SVA. While at Bain Capital Ventures, Steven also developed and led their data-driven sourcing efforts, resulting in three new seed investments during the program’s first year. Steven graduated from New York University with a degree in Economics. During his time as a student at NYU, he worked multiple part-time jobs to self-finance his education, and was a member of the NCAA Fencing team. He is the proud son of two immigrants from South Korea and grew up in Los Angeles’ Koreatown district.
Elisa Mac is an Executive Assistant at SVA. Her responsibilities include supporting the Co-Managing Partner, as well as the investments team. With a wealth of over ten years of customer service experience, Elisa's unwavering energy and passion ensure the smooth functioning of the firm.
Previously, she worked as Executive Assistant to the President of Zydowsky Consultants LLC & Chief Science Officer of Alexandria Real Estate Equities Inc. Elisa's professional journey also includes her tenure as the Operations Manager at Louis Vuitton Client Services for North America, where she gained a deep understanding of operational efficiency and client satisfaction. In addition to her professional achievements, Elisa holds a Bachelor's of Science degree from UC Davis in Design, specializing in Textiles and Visual Communications.
Beyond her professional endeavors, Elisa serves as a Board Member of the Alice Fong Yu Parent's Association, demonstrating her commitment to community engagement and making a positive impact in her surroundings. In her free time, she enjoys indulging in her passions for cooking and painting.
Sam Tomaszewski is an Executive Assistant at SVA. Her responsibilities include supporting the Managing Partner, as well as the Seed investment team. Sam has been in supporting roles for over 9 years, covering C-Suite executives at start-ups to Managing Directors in ventures. Her experience in these fields have provided her with a vast knowledge-base in understanding the venture capital industry. Previously, she worked as an Executive Assistant to a Managing Director and Partner at Bain Capital Ventures. In Sam's free time, she enjoys volunteering with West Coast Boxer Rescue, where she helps facilitate finding forever homes for boxers in need. Sam received her Bachelor’s of Science degree from San Francisco State University in Kinesiology with an emphasis on Physiology of Fitness and Health.
Michael Minto is a Product Manager at SVA, responsible for building software that helps manage the investments and daily operations of the fund. Before joining SVA, Michael founded a firm that supported early-stage founders and built startups, from consumer marketplaces to B2B SaaS applications. Several of the products he built during this time are used by Fortune 500 companies to streamline their sales, marketing, and product development processes. Previously, Michael was an early employee at the video technology startup Airtime, and prior, he began his career in venture capital at Founders Fund where he worked on financial analysis. Michael graduated with honors from the University of San Francisco and has been a competitive golfer for the past 20 years.
