Our Founder's Story

Ron Conway has been a central figure in Silicon Valley’s evolution, with a career that spans from the early days of hardware at National Semiconductor in the 1970s to the rise of internet startups and beyond. He made a groundbreaking move in the early 1990s by focusing exclusively on internet companies, placing himself at the forefront of the digital boom. Conway was deeply embedded in the growth of iconic firms, closely observing Sequoia’s Don Valentine and experiencing Netscape’s explosive rise from the inside. He also played a key role in Google’s early success by helping arrange its Series A funding alongside Ram Shriram. His long-standing influence and involvement in transformative tech moments have made him a defining force in Silicon Valley’s culture and history.

Ron appeared as a guest on Jessica Livingston and Carolynn Levy's podcast The Social Radars. Carolynn and Jessica have been working together to help thousands of startups at Y Combinator for almost 20 years, and in this series Ron shares his story - and the story of SV Angel - with them.
