Topher Conway

Topher Conway is a Co-Managing Partner of SV Angel. At SV Angel, he works particularly close with Gusto, Github, Stripe, Coinbase, DoorDash and Flexport. He was included in Forbes Magazine's 30 Under 30 in 2015. Prior to SV Angel, he worked at EQAL, Inc. At EQAL, he worked with the Business Development and Sales teams and lead efforts in creating new business opportunities. In his Sales position, he developed and maintained relationships with top ad agencies and brands. Prior to EQAL, he held positions at eCost and a 2004 summer internship in Google's Direct Sales Organization. Topher graduated from University of California Los Angeles with a degree in History. He is also a member of the UCLA VC Fund, helping foster entrepreneurship at the University.

Ron Conway

Ron Conway is the Founder and Co-Managing Partner of SV Angel. Ron has been an active angel investor since the mid 90’s. He was the Founder and Managing Partner of the Angel Investors LP funds (1998-2005). He was included in 2010’s Vanity Fair 100 most influential people in the Information Age. He was awarded Best Angel at The 2009 TechCrunch Crunchies Awards. He was named #13 in Forbes Magazine Midas list of top "deal-makers" in 2011. Ron was with National Semiconductor Corporation in marketing positions (1973-1979), Altos Computer Systems as a co-founder, President and CEO (1979-1990) and took Altos public on Nasdaq in 1982 and served as CEO of Personal Training Systems (PTS) (1991-1995). PTS was acquired by SmartForce/SkillSoft (Nasdaq SKIL).

Philanthropically, Ron is a Board Member of the Foundation, a member of the UCSF Medical Center Chancellor's Advisory Board in SF, and is active in fundraising for the UCSF Benioff Children's Hospital, College Track, Sandy Hook Promise-Newtown CT, Americans for Responsible Solutions-Gabby Giffords, Smart Tech Challenges Foundation, and the THORN Foundation. Ron is an advocate for technology companies and civic engagement in San Francisco and founder of (San Francisco's tech-backed civic organization). Ron is also an advocate for immigration reform and a co-founder of FWD.US.

Beth Turner

Beth Turner is a General Partner at SV Angel. Prior to joining, Beth ran operations and invested with a family office focused on seed stage opportunities, investing in companies such as Clover Health, Flatiron Health, LifeLock, and Blue Apron. Prior to this, Beth was managing director of a consulting firm and worked with an international NGO with an operational focus in East Africa. Prior to this, Beth was an early employee at the ad-tech startup Adaptly and worked with one of Israel's first startups, Netafim. She is a Siemens Westinghouse Scholar, has spoken at TEDx and The World Space Conference, the youngest person to ever record an asteroid occultation, and a musician (performing the national anthem for NBA/NFL, with the Houston Grand Opera, and on an album with Albany records). Beth graduated from MIT with a major in Civil and Environmental Engineering and minors in Physics and Earth, Atmospheric and Planetary Sciences (EAPS).

Shana Duncan

Shana is responsible for Business Operations at SV Angel. Prior to joining SV Angel in August 2018, Shana spent over five years at Promontory Financial Group, where she oversaw client accounting, financial forecasting, and business development efforts for the firm's West Coast & London-based IT Risk Management practices, and managed the San Francisco office and administrative team. Prior to her time at PFG, Shana was a Managing Director at Hamel Family Wines, where she oversaw all aspects of company operations, and spent four years at ValueAct Capital, where her primary responsibilities included Investor Relations, Executive Support, and various family office responsibilities for the founding partners. Shana holds a BA with High Honors in Visual Arts/Photography from Marlboro College. She is a food and wine enthusiast, a mediocre but dedicated drummer, and continues to be an avid photographer.

Brian Pokorny

Brian Pokorny is an advisor and former General Partner of SV Angel. Prior to this, he was at Airbnb, where he joined via an acquisition of DailyBooth/Batch. DailyBooth was a venture backed social media start-up that Brian led for 3 years as their CEO. Before this, Brian was a partner at SV Angel with Ron Conway upon the launch of the firm. Prior to SV Angel he was a founding team member and partner at Baseline Ventures, a leading seed-stage investment firm. Before joining Baseline, Brian spent close to 4 years at Google within various positions in the Content Partnerships team and Direct Sales Organization. Before this, he had various roles within sales operations and finance at Juniper Networks, TIBCO Software, and Applied Materials. Brian graduated with a degree in Operations and Management Information Systems from Santa Clara University. Brian's first angel investment was in Twitter and he is also a personal angel investor in Square, OMGPOP (acquired by Zynga), Tweetdeck (acquired by Twitter), Milo (acquired by eBay), Chomp (acquired by Apple) and others. Brian has advisory positions with Ooyala (acquired by Telstra), Rupture (acquired by EA). At SV Angel, Brian has also originated investments in companies such as Instacart, Patreon, Mesosphere, Credit Karma, and foursquare.

Kevin Carter

Kevin Carter is an advisor and former General Partner of SV Angel. He joined the firm upon launch in 2009. At SV Angel, Kevin originated investments in Snapchat, Pinterest, Casper, GroupMe (acquired by Skype) and Sunrise (acquired by MSFT), and works particularly close with Remix, FarmLogs, Amplitude and Optimizely. He was included in Forbes Magazine’s 30 under 30 in 2012 and 2013. He is also on the Engineering Advisory Board at Santa Clara University (EAB). Prior to SV Angel, he worked in the Private Equity Group at Silicon Valley Bank. At SVB he was a part of the Entrepreneur Services and Venture Capital Relationship Management Groups and helped with diligence and cross platform relationship efforts. Before SVB, Kevin worked at Affinity Circles, Inc. where he performed sales and client account management. While at SCU, he worked closely with the Center for Innovation and Entrepreneurship, founded the CIE Mentor Program and was awarded “Outstanding Student Entrepreneur".

Robert Pollak

Robert Pollak is an advisor and former General Partner of SV Angel. He joined in 2011 and is responsible for all aspects of running the firm. At SV Angel, Robert has originated investments in and works particularly closely with Fundbox, iCracked and Dronebase. He has spoken at international conferences including Techcrunch Europe and OpenAir Berlin. Prior to SV Angel, Robert worked for a multi-family office within Morgan Stanley, that focused on VCs, late-stage technology companies, and entrepreneurs. He also worked at Arnold & Porter LLP on large-scale M&A transactions in their anti-trust group. Robert graduated from the University of Virginia with a B.A. in Economics and Foreign Affairs.

Kartik Talwar

Kartik is an advisor to SV Angel. While on the investment team at SV Angel, he led crypto and technical investments and has promoted investments in over 20 companies including MakerDAO, Radar Relay, Harbor, Handshake, Anchorage, DFINITY, CryptoKitties, Celo, Near Protocol, Fortmatic, Computable, Tagomi, and Coinbase. He was also responsible for building tools that help manage the thousands of investments SV Angel considers each year. He is an active contributor to various open source projects, helped start ETHGlobal, and was also recently included in Forbes Magazine’s 30 Under 30 list. Kartik holds a degree in Astrophysics and Mathematics from the University of Waterloo.
